Urban Food & Design
This joint format by the Vienna Business Agency focuses this year on the development of Viennese colours and pigments. Based on the bioregional design approach of Biofabrique Vienna, previously unused resources – from food waste to invasive plants – are transformed in a creative and sustainable way. Following its successful premiere on the topic of bioregional building materials, Biofabrique Vienna, a project of the Vienna Business Agency, will showcase the establishment of a unique research network of designers, scientists and industry representatives at the festival headquarters. In addition, a symposium on 26 September 2025 will deepen the discussion and invite participants to exchange ideas on colour, design, innovation and the circular economy. More...

Re:Form,
launched in collaboration with OekoBusiness Wien, the environmental service programme of the City of Vienna, focuses on cooperation between design studios and companies. As part of the festival, three flagship projects will be on display, showing how sustainable design, strategic thinking and the leverage of economic implementation can bring future-proof products into the world. On display at the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK festival headquarters are seating objects designed by ante up according to ecological design principles for the Zuko mobile street furniture rental service. Also on display are designs by blass & orange for disused wetsuits, which are given a second chance as new products manufactured in the socio-economic employment project DIE KÜMMEREI.
