VIENNA DESIGN WEEK NEWS 07/2025
On ageing and everyday life
With the group exhibitions FOKUS and Design Everyday, VIENNA DESIGN WEEK presents two central festival formats. They showcase the diversity of design – from experimental one-offs to functional everyday objects.
FOKUS: Ageing
The FOKUS format showcases international positions in collectible design. For the fourth edition, Estonian curator Sandra Nuut has compiled objects that sensitively address the theme of ageing.
Under the headings Working With Nature, Embracing Change and Collaborating with the Past and Present, works are shown in which traces of time, decay or memory are not considered deficiencies, but rather creative resources.
With works by: Valentin Bauer, Alice Bonanomi, Jakob Brix, Chai Dienn, Martina Dimitrova, Vilius Dringelis, Dawid Fik, Jeremy Hollister, Elo-Reet Järv, Magda Jugo, Annika Kiidron, Liucija Kostiva, Laurenz Kyral, Bertille Laguet, Dong Liu, Ejla Miletić, Cristiano Picão Pereira, Danilo Reis, Kati Saarits, Flora Sommer, Studio Hanna Whitehead, Studio Kiki Astner, Studio Kollektiir, STUDIOppl, Valentina Sturn, and Ketli Tiitsar.
The scenography is by Hannah Oellinger & Manfred Rainer, the exhibition graphics by Linnea Lindgren & Anna Rich. More info...

In collaboration with Sebastian Leitinger (Glein), the construction fence tarpaulins from the Festival Centre 2024 have been turned into a small everyday bag. Each Banner Bag is unique, made in the EU from recycled materials – practical, robust and sustainable. Available exclusively at the festival headquarters.
