Andrey Budko
Andrey Budko designs and manufactures wool felt rugs with the help of high-tech
embroidery. The patterns on the rugs are created with ceramic thread. The ceramic coating
and special knot structure of the embroidery enable richer colors to be produced. Natural
wool felt is resistant to many types of dirt. Red wine, coffee, and even olive oil can be
removed from Budko’s rugs using standard household cleaning products. The non-woven
structure of the fabric prevents dust from penetrating deep into the material and ensures
that dirt remains on the surface. This makes the rugs easy to clean with a vacuum. Wool felt
is highly resistant against wear and suitable for use in public places such as hotels and
restaurants.
Andrey Budko won the SaloneSatellite ⨯ Rinascente 2019 competition and the AD Design
Award 2020. His work can be found in the permanent collection of SaloneSatellite in Milan.
