Az W – Architekturzentrum Wien
Since its opening in 1993, the Vienna Architecture Centre has not only successfully established itself amid the growing public debate about building culture as the first address for architecture in Austria, but in addition, has become Austria’s only architectural museum. With its permanent exhibition a_schau. Österreichische Architektur im 20. und 21. Jahrhundert [a_show: Austrian Architecture in the 20th and 21st Centuries] , the Az W offers a suitable setting for a ‘knowledge centre for architecture’. Architecture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries receives special emphasis in the Vienna Architecture Centre. Several large temporary exhibitions yearly and some smaller ones, both of which present the exciting variety of contemporary architecture, open up new insights into the history of building and its future possibilities.
