Bettina Willnauer

Bettina Willnauer lives and works as a textile artist in Vienna. After completing her studies at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, she began developing dreamlike visual worlds in which everyday objects, nature, and people come together. Her artistic practice encompasses various media such as textiles, painting, and installation — always characterized by powerful color compositions and an intuitive formal language. Recently, Willnauer has focused primarily on tapestries created using tufting guns and punch needles. She sometimes uses hand-dyed yarns made from natural materials to lend additional depth to the narrative layers of her work.
