Crafting Plastics!

Crafting Plastics! is an award-winning design research studio founded in 2016 by Vlasta Kubušová and Miroslav Král. Based in Bratislava, the studio explores materials as active systems that connect people, technologies, and environments, rather than passive substances. The studio works across scales, from self-initiated research and experimental objects to commissions, spatial installations, and industry partnerships. It moves between science, craft, and technology to develop bio-based materials, processes, and new forms of interaction. One of the studio’s long-term research projects is NUATAN®, a fully bio-based and biodegradable material developed for durable, value-added applications. The work of Crafting Plastics! embraces transformation and temporality, exploring how materials perform, live, change, and return.
