Schnitzstube Stadlhofer
At the age of 30, Franz Stadlhofer discovered his passion for woodcarving. After nine years of woodcarving courses at the Upper Austrian Adult Education Center, he took over as national course director. Numerous additional courses later, he completed his ornamental carving training and founded his company in Weissensee, Carinthia, in 1995. In 2006, his wife Andrea Stadlhofer joined the company and supported him in modernizing and expanding the workshop. In 2010, they opened their studio in Vienna, where they specialize in carving techniques ranging from kerb and flat carving to relief carving. They carve everyday objects – from vases, candlesticks, and clocks to furniture and furnishings. In addition to individual commissions, they also offer an extensive range of tools and raw lime wood.
Preserving and passing on traditional craft techniques is very important to Andrea and Franz Stadlhofer. They therefore offer numerous courses on the subject in their carving workshop in Vienna. Franz Stadlhofer also shared his expertise as co-author of the successful textbooks “Ornamentales Schnitzen” and “Vom Kerbschnitt zum ornamentalen Reliefschnitt”.
