Simiæn

Simiæn sees itself as a studio for design research and a development platform for ideas related to the future of food. It emerged out of a deep devotion to food and drink and the desire to find new answers to the questions of what and how we might eat in the future. Simiæn creates design objects for the senses and explores the symbiotic relationship between the edible and the inedible – from stones to lichens. Simiæn was founded by the designer Julia Schwarz and the creative strategist Lisi Penker and traces its roots back to the project UNSEEN EDIBLE (VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2018), which investigated the potential of lichen as an alternative source of nutrition. The objective of Simiæn is to find new ways of implementing the results of this research.
