Thomas Schiefer

Thomas Schiefer studied industrial design at Vienna’s University of Applied Arts after graduating from HTL Mödling’s department of interior design. In addition to his freelance work as an industrial designer, he teaches at the Vienna University of Technology, Institute of Architectural Sciences. Since his 2009 debut at the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, he has participated in exhibitions in Milan, Berlin, Eindhoven, Ljubljana, and Feldkirch. Motivated to make discoveries, Schiefer tries to incorporate a wide variety of influences into his design praxis and reshape them emotionally. This has also led to experiments: for the project “Lufttritt,” the prototype of the concept staircase “air” was developed further into the variation “rock” and the production stage.
