Named after Radio Luxembourg’s historic medium-wave frequency (208 meters), the GAST exhibition curated by Anna Loporcaro in collaboration with Design Luxembourg showcases the Luxembourg design scene with listening stations and a radio studio for regular live broadcasts.
 

At a time when design exhibitions are mostly dominated by objects, TWO-O-EIGHT – DESIGNING VOICES shifts the focus from display to communication. The question here is not so much what Luxembourgish design looks like, but rather how it sounds. Named after Radio Luxembourg’s historic medium-wave frequency (208 meters), the exhibition unfolds as a radio agora. In podcasts produced in collaboration with Radio 100,7 and organized into six thematic blocks, some thirty designers discuss historical contexts and graphic identity as well as product design, collectible design, social design, sound, and international developments. Rather than presenting a static design identity, the exhibition depicts a constantly evolving state that also reflects Luxembourg’s role as a hub of exchange. In Rachel Hoffmann’s (Studio Abricot) scenographic concept, visitors at listening stations decide for themselves which voice they want to hear, in what order, and for how long – thus becoming part of a many-voiced composition. The exhibition space also includes a radio studio where live conversations with Luxembourgish designers as well as listening sessions will take place regularly throughout the festival.
