The patterns from this year’s festival campaign serve as the starting point for a reinterpretation of the legendary USM furniture system.

What happens when a design classic breaks away from its familiar form? In collaboration with Austrian artist Anna Zimm Corda, the Viennese interior design firm Behan & Thurm reinterprets the iconic USM Haller furniture system. The starting point for this project is the patterns designed by SIRENE Studio for this year’s VIENNA DESIGN WEEK festival campaign: repetition, structure, and variation meet the modular principle of USM. Familiar elements thus give rise to new arrangements, surprising compositions, and a unique object that bridges the worlds of design, art, and space.
