To celebrate its 20th anniversary, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK has treated itself to a European tour. This exhibition looks back on five extraordinary interventions.

Brussels, Milan, Mikulov, Frankfurt, Logroño: The guests who joined the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK on its Anniversary Tour were just as diverse as the destinations themselves. To showcase various aspects of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK in collaboration with partner design events, the festival team invited designers to create an intervention for each stop. Instead of a conventional travelling exhibition, the anniversary tour crisscrossed Europe with a series of site-specific happenings. In tow: the works of over a hundred Austrian designers. The Viennese souvenir shop in Brussels, the Milanese aperitivo, the bar sculpture hidden in a Moravian castle, the horse party in Frankfurt, and the feast in the circus tent are already legendary. The final round of celebrations at the Festival Headquarters now gives those who stayed home a chance to experience the spirit of the Anniversary Tour.
