This architecture walk begins with an exclusive tour of a true gem of Vienna’s urban and broadcasting history: the Funkhaus Wien on Argentinierstraße, the former broadcasting station of the ORF, is being converted into a sustainable concept for culture, gastronomy, hospitality, and living after its temporary use. This is followed by an exclusive visit to the so-called Caramel Carage, the extraordinary new studio of the Caramel architecture firm in a converted garage. Like this one, this year’s Festival Headquarters for the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is also located in a former car repair shop. After an overview tour of the impressive halls, including the festival’s current exhibitions, the tour ends there.
