ARCH ON WALK HIETZING 2 – EXPERIMENTAL MODEL SETTLEMENTS
ARCH ON TOUR
- Guided Tour: 27.9.2026, 3pm–6pm
Werkbundsiedlung
This tour explores the iconic Vienna Werkbund housing estate, including an interior visit to the Rietveld-Haus, and offers a glimpse of the neighboring prefabricated housing estate designed by Carl Auböck and Roland Rainer.
This architectural walking tour takes participants to remarkable buildings by Josef Frank and Adolf Loos in the Vienna Werkbund housing estate. Under Frank’s overall direction, forty different types of single-family homes were created here in collaboration with 31 architects. A highlight of the tour is a visit to the Rietveld-Haus, which was revitalized by Silja Tillner in 2022. Afterward, the group will head to the neighboring Veitingergasse, where a model housing development based on a prefabricated construction concept with modular building services designed by Carl Auböck and Roland Rainer was built in the 1950s.
