The centerpiece of this year’s contribution from the MAK for the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is the exhibition AUT NOW. 100 objects, 100 designers – 25 years, 25 categories: In the MAK show, furniture, household appliances, tools, lighting, and accessories – and design solutions for health, work, entertainment, and mobility – embody the diversity and innovative energy of Austrian product design between 2000 and 2025. From Alpine vision to the circular economy, the exhibition invites visitors to consider the functional, conceptual, and poetic quality of 21st-century design as well as discover some surprising and fascinating aspects of familiar solutions.
In parallel with AUT NOW, the exhibition ELEMENTS – ADAM ŠTĚCH’S PERSPECTIVE ON ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS can also be seen at the MAK. An accompanying talk with the architectural historian and researcher takes place on 21.9. On 20.9., the results of the furniture making workshop with Yves Ebnöther will be presented as part of MAK-IT! EXTENDED.
