As part of the festival format Urban Food & Design, the Vienna Business Agency and the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK launched two Biofabrique Vienna Challenges centered on Wiener Farben (Viennese colors) – natural dyes made from previously unused organic waste materials.

The “Colours at Work” challenge sought new approaches to future workwear from bioregional designers. The winner of the challenge, Stefan Decker, impressed the judges with his design for a work jacket made from secondhand T-shirts, which were dyed using Viennese colors and reworked into a new garment. The results will be presented at Biofabrique Vienna at Nordwestbahnhof. During the festival, teams from Biofabrique Vienna and the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK will also put the work jackets through practical testing and try them out in everyday work situations.
