For four years, the association Design in Gesellschaft (DING) has been using a courtyard building at Engerthstraße 124. The designers have long since accepted the traces of the property’s past uses as part of the infrastructure for their work. For the BUILDING project, however, specific research was carried out: Who lived and worked here over the course of the past century? Inspired by the history of the place, design objects and interventions are created that reveal different time periods. The focus is particularly on the nearly 50 years of lemonade production in the building – and with it, the moving story of the Natowic family, who produced the popular lemonade “Wiener Gold” here until they had to flee. During the festival, a soda bar in the form of a giant lemonade bottle in the courtyard will become a social meeting place where neighbors, historians, and designers will engage in conversation on 28.9. during so-called “Soda Talks”. On this day, the bar will be open all day, on all other days, self-service will be available.
