Experimental research, biodegradable materials, and aspects of decay manifest themselves as a space-filling structure.

What might design look like if change, aging, and biodegradation were understood not as a loss, but as an integral part of the design? In the form of a walk-in pavilion with an accompanying material station, flexi studio explores biodegradable materials for temporary spatial structures at the intersection of design, art, and architecture. Using animal byproducts such as wool, gelatin, and bone glue, flexi studio has developed bio-based composites that are shaped through digital production and artisanal craftsmanship, deliberately pushing the properties of the materials to their limits. In CHIMAERE, form, texture, and scent combine to create a spatial experience that illustrates the installation’s entire life cycle – from production to its return to natural cycles.

Under the label Mixer!, the curatorial team at VIENNA DESIGN WEEK matches locations in Vienna with suitable content, which is presented there in an unusual setting.

On 2.10., The Social Hub will also host a culinary performance by RAT Supper Club.
