CIRCULAR CRAFTS examines artisanal production in the context of the circular economy. At its core are the principles of “Slow”, “Narrow”, and “Close”, which form thematic areas of tension with the aspects of time, place, and value. They open up a space for discourse on responsibility in craftsmanship. As part of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the “Circular Crafts Canvas” will be presented – a tool for reflecting on and applying circular design principles. The canvas was developed in cooperation between the IDRV – Institute of Design Research Vienna and co/rizom and was tested in a series of workshops and expanded through a variety of craft perspectives.
