The initiative TeleAgriCulture is aimed at artists, designers, farmers and DIY enthusiasts and sees itself as an open community project. In addition to providing information about and the possibility to exchange ideas on the subject of sustainable urban food production (“Put the culture back into agriculture!”), the crowd- and cloud-based platform also offers individualized sensing kits with accompanying apps for the home. In the context of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the project is exhibiting an aquaponic construction kit which is equally suitable for the recording of scientific data and for other, more creative uses. Aquaponics is the term given to a process that combines techniques for breeding fish in aquaculture and cultivating crops by means of hydroculture. Festival visitors are invited to take part in hands-on workshops where they will learn more about the technological aspects, setting up and the creative use of this closed loop equipment. The project is being realized in cooperation with V2 and GMIAS.
