The architect Eldine Heep and the product designer Barbara Gollackner are taking part in an experiment in the French surrealist tradition: They work in turns on one of two pieces. To this end, the objects are repeatedly sent back and forth between Vienna (Heep) and Salzburg (Gollackner). Without knowing each other’s intentions or backgrounds, they work alone, yet still together, creating two objects that express both designers’ ideas without passing them on further. With respect, but without reserve, Eldine Heep and Barbara Gollackner alternately react to the input of the other in a playful yet open-ended process. The results are three-dimensional collages that encapsulate a project at the interface between proximity and distance.
