Old meets new: FERNER SITZEN showcases the aesthetic research and experimental work of artist Hannah Philomena Scheiber, who grew up near a glacier – also known as a “Ferner” in western Austria. Influenced by the advancing glacier melt and growing up in a tourist region, Scheiber deals with contrasts and the “Coincidentia oppositorum”, or the collision of opposites. On display is a sofa made by Scheiber’s grandfather, which, reimagined by Stephka Klaura, has been covered with a print from her series “Prima Materia”. In a live performance on 27.9., the artist will transfer one of her paintings of the Ötztal glaciers onto a newly upholstered sofa by Kohlmaier.
