Design and city. Kiel in Vienna. The showcase by Germany's most northerly independent university of art brings together, for the second time at the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, a selection of works by industrial design students that translate the interaction between the urbanity of Kiel and the city’s inhabitants into functional products and, in doing so, address the following questions: Can the way in which we use products and dress ourselves directly influence the development of a city? How can the barriers between the home and the outside world be broken down and new spaces opened up? And what can specific products and items of clothing that are adapted to a locality contribute to this process? The works on show range from experimental to applied industrial design and focus, in particular, on a progressive understanding of urbanity, product and production. Curated by Mirko Ihrig and Martin Postler and realized in cooperation with the participating students.
