Circularity meets design mediation: Miki Martinek’s contributions are something like hidden gems of the festival. For more than a decade, the designer has been delighting visitors to the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK with ever-new editions and lovingly crafted mediation formats. This year, she invites visitors to the studio of materialnomaden, experts in reuse and circular design in building culture. There, visitors can see NEW DESIGN NEXUS, a participatory product presentation developed in collaboration with architect Christian Kroepfl. Participating companies present their circular design projects and engage in dialogue with visitors during daily tours and workshops. The aim of the presentation, with its special focus on circular economy, is to strengthen connections and explore them against the backdrop of Martinek’s work as a designer and her teaching at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Using the method of design mediation, Miki Martinek invites visitors to experience creative processes together and discover new perspectives in the process.
