Out of Office: Sebastian Freudenschuss presents his illustrative exploration of this year’s Festival Headquarters, navigating the space between absence and revitalization.

Urban exploring is the private discovery and documentation of abandoned places. Following this principle, Sebastian Freudenschuss, winner of RADO MOVING MATERIALS 2024, took a closer look at this year’s VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Festival Headquarters. He visited the office high-rise designed by Harry Glück after its original use had ended and shortly before the festival moved in: “It’s still almost unchanged, and yet already completely out of context. The kitchen is no longer a kitchen. The office spaces stand empty.” The designer has captured these and other observations in a series of illustrations that explore the strange feeling of absence – the absence of people.
