The studio of Vienna’s designkollektiv is being transformed for the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK into an exhibition space, in which the research project “Brücken und Plattformen”, which took place in cooperation with Benjamin Kromoser, the Province of Lower Austria, the municipality of Stetteldorf, and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU) is being presented. Captivated by the dignity of historic wooden bridges, the research team visited remaining examples of such bridges in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, analyzing their construction and materials and exploring their breathtaking qualities with the help of atmospheric studies. The findings of these analyses were then applied to a location in the Weinviertel in the form of a canopy walkway along the Wagram ridge. The exhibition ON WOODEN BRIDGES AND PLATFORMS charts the (treetop) path from the initial research via the photographic documentation, analyses, design sketches, and texts to the concrete realization and its visualized examples.
