Wäscheflott
The Passionswege projects in 2007, 2010, and 2013 left a lasting mark on the custom tailor shop Wäscheflott. To mark the anniversary of VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, this Viennese institution is deepening its collaboration with the design studio chmara.rosinke.
The Viennese made-to-measure manufacturer Wäscheflott was already part of the Passionswege at the first VIENNA DESIGN WEEK in 2007. The designer duo DANKLHAMPEL – Kathrina Dankl and Lisa E. Hampel – sent four people who would not normally have ordered a custom-made shirt to Wäscheflott, turning the encounter between custom tailoring and a generation accustomed to mass production into a project in itself. In 2010, Swedish designer Jessica Hansson transformed the display into a spatial drawing exploring the interplay between line, seam, cut, and shirt collar. In 2013, chmara.rosinke shifted their focus from the finished made-to-measure shirt to its creation process— 2026 the design studio will present an expansion of this concept. Three encounters that demonstrate in different ways that behind a garment lie not only fabric and cut, but also knowledge, time, and personal relationships.
Passionswege Perspectives: To mark its 20th anniversary, the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK has invited five Passionswege pairings to look back on their shared history and reflect on the relationships that the format has fostered between artisans and designers.
