On sitting and reading: Students at the Institute of Design are exploring the future potential of two prototype design objects – and sharing their perspectives.

The University of Applied Arts Vienna explores the future potential of two prototypical design objects: While students from the Industrial Design and Design Investigations departments designed chairs and explored concepts of sitting in a collaborative, the Communication Design department examined the book as a concept, object, method, and medium. As a result of this fundamental research, the design students are presenting twelve hypotheses and artistic designs under the title “Booxhibition – What is a book and what can it be?” Alongside these, the ID and DI departments are exhibiting selected seating objects.
