During the corona crisis, our lives have been marked by restrictions and new rules of behavior that have strongly influenced and strained social cohesion. The impact of these on public space has been particularly noticeable. For a society that shares democratic values and is used to exercising a wide range of freedoms, the unfamiliar restrictions triggered by the virus represent a threat to more than just our health. In order to ensure that public places do not become places of fear, the City Council commissioned four different design offices to develop corona-compliant seating. During the summer, these have been seen in various locations in Vienna. All four designs can now be experienced on Columbusplatz in Favoriten. They come from mostlikely architecture, dottings Industrial Design, POLKA and NUT & FEDER.
