“We want to talk it out, not talk our way out of it!” With a public debate at the Festival Headquarters, the internationally renowned Austrian food design duo honey & bunny will bring a long-term democracy project to a provisional conclusion. In the lead-up to the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, the market area of the Viennese Naschmarkt functioned as a space for public discourse. The goal was to inspire market visitors to participate in politics. To this end, vendors wrapped their goods in paper bags with questions about topics such as the participation in and the shaping of democratic processes as well as political apathy printed on them. With the help of a QR code or a note on the bag itself, anyone could respond to these prompts. Through the widespread distribution of the bags, honey & bunny invited Viennese people from various communities to engage in the decision-making process and give a voice to those who may be less heard in public debates.
