How can companies utilize traditional Indian crafts to promote inclusive and environmentally sustainable business practices?

The Indian platform 200 Million Artisans (200M) operates at the intersection of arts and crafts, capital, trade, and culture in the Global South. With SECOND NATURE, the platform is bringing the collective exploration of climate protection – in conjunction with inclusive business practices and traditional craftsmanship – into focus at VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. According to estimates, there are more than 3,000 documented forms of craftsmanship in India that preserve indigenous knowledge as a living practice and provide the foundation for sustainable business. The exhibition demonstrates how companies are integrating these approaches in areas such as the circular economy and material expertise into socially responsible business models. In doing so, the process, the object, and the creators remain inextricably linked, bridging the gap between global ambitions and local knowledge.

Talk “Regenerative Design Futures in India”: Sun 4.10, 5pm

The Institute of Design Research Vienna (IDRV), through its curated exhibition “Imagine – Coral Reef. Regenerative Design” in Delhi sought to foster an exchange with students from Sushant University through on-site workshops on the topic of regenerative design.

This exchange will be further deepened as part of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK. Following a brief introductory presentation of projects, Harald Gründl (co-director of the Institute of Design Research Vienna (IDRV)), Koshalpreet Kaur (dean of the School of Design at Sushant University), and Shailja Sachan (200 Million Artisans) will discuss sustainable design, production, and lifestyle concepts.
