Sharing a meal and a drink brings people together. Parties and celebrations are social highlights. And who’s always there? Insects! Buzzing around the food, trapped in a glass, or swimming in the soup – despite being a permanent nuisance, these insects are constantly declining in number because biodiversity is disappearing and the most fundamental natural cycle is stalling. How can bees and beetles become better integrated into our society? How can we live side-by-side? Students from the Food and Design Course have thought carefully about these questions and developed a number of projects whose aim is to protect and integrate insects. On a picnic, at the sausage stand, in the kitchen, and in public spaces.
