With “Verband”, Sophie Grell presents a wall consisting of twelve acoustically effective light fixtures that can be expanded in all directions.
 

A wall of light: “Verband” consists of twelve light fixtures that together form a sound-absorbing wall. The modules are modeled after the dimensions of an old Austrian brick, which was measured in the Klafter system, the official measurement system until 1872: eleven inches, which, when supplemented with plaster on both sides, equal the length of a foot (twelve inches) – a unit of measurement from which an entire country is built. The open-pored woven fabric by acunic, with which the wire modules are covered, diffuses the light and absorbs sound. The structure can be expanded in all directions, from a single unit to a niche to an entire wall.
