Is this where the festival’s soundtrack comes to life?

Product design usually takes place away from the public eye. Objects are designed behind closed doors and then released into the wider world. With SOUND TAKES SHAPE HERE,

six students from the Lycée des Arts et Métiers in Luxembourg are turning this logic on its head. Their installation is an invitation to work with the structure they’ve brought along and various materials, using sounds captured around the Festival Headquarters as a basis. Sound defines the object from the inside out, determining its form, rhythm, and appearance. Sound becomes tangible. It captures the light, can be touched, and fills the space. However, exactly what emerges depends on who participates. Here, visitors are not passive spectators but equal creators.

The project was developed as part of a product design course taught by Gilles Gardula at the Lycée des Arts et Métiers in Luxembourg, this year’s GAST of the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK.
