In the former cold storage rooms of the Festival Headquarters, the Temporary Arrangement collective is presenting works from its archive in new configurations, offering visitors a fresh way to experience them.

Temporary Arrangement is a loose association of designers and artists Lino Gasparitsch, Klemens Schillinger, Bettina Willnauer, and Anna Zimmermann. The collective operates at the intersection of contemporary culture, art, and design, and in its previous exhibitions has explored the themes of “Alpen”, “Garten”, and “Baden”. In doing so, they examined everyday culture, material aesthetics, and symbolic meanings, placing them in new, unexpected contexts. The new installation TEMPORARY ARRANGEMENTS is on view in the former cold storage rooms of this year’s VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Festival Headquarters, with these spaces reminiscent of storage units also serving as the starting point for the work: objects from past exhibitions in the collective’s archive are freely and associatively recombined and arranged into temporary still lifes and sculptures. The installation is conceived as a retrospective of five years of Temporary Arrangement – a living archive in which past works are reinterpreted and, through their altered composition, placed in new relationships.
